Think out of the box

Source

While living in this world we will always find ourselves bound by limitations. Starting right from our school years we are trained to think conventionally.

“For this problem, this is the only solution” – we may have heard 1,000 times in childhood. Due to this, we lose our creativity and innovative ideas.

Yet our unconventional thinking can be retained. It only needs the practice of thinking out of the box. Now the question comes in my mind – How does one think out of the box?

It’s simple:

  • Take any problem.
  • Find out its obvious solutions and eliminate them.
  • Now think of alternative solutions.

Now let’s try some questions:

Try first, then consider the answer.

There are 5 regions A, B, C, D (All white part) and region E (Grey part) shown in the figure.

Region A, B, C, E have same Area. So, Area(A) = Area(B) = Area(C) = Area(E)

Don’t look directly at the answer

Try first…!!

Now comes the difficult one:

Divide white Area (C) into 4 equal parts:

Try it:

.

.

.

.

Let me give you a hint: Look at the complete square ABCD. It has 4 equal regions as I mentioned earlier.

.

.

Didn’t get it??

.

Okay one more hint: Eliminate region D from complete square

.

.

Here ’s one more hint: After Eliminating region D from the complete square, it is looking like region C with 4 equal parts.!!!!

.

.

Now comes the most difficult one.

Think out of the box 😉

Okay so here’s the solution:

Was it really that difficult?

We just conditioned our mind.

Let’s look at another question.

It’s a classic nine-dot game by Zander, where you are challenged to join all the dots with only three straight lines without taking your pen from the paper.

Try it.

.

.

If you think within the limitations then there is no way to arrive at a solution.

.

Hint: Try to draw lines stretched on whole paper.

Here is the solution

.

.

So, don’t be the captive of certainty, you can do better. Even this thought (drawing 3 long lines) was also someone’s idea and now we are following this and it has become our borderline.

Remember, it’s okay to get failed but it’s worse not to try.

And try to go beyond limitations.

After Some steps…

Hmm…I should think out of the box then….

 .

What Should I do now?? Help me.
